Art Impressions Birthday Fishes

You know sometimes you don't have to re-invent the wheel...

I saw this card design made by Karen Day and had to case it!  It was the perfect birthday card for my Father-In-Law. He looks forward to my cards every year...and is quite the fisherman! It will also make  a great Father's Day card!

I didn't like my knock off version at first-, because Karen's is so awesome. But it has come to grow on me and now I love my version too! It was fun to draw in a scene around an image.

I used this stamp set from Art Impressions:

I  hope you will pop over and check out Karen Day's blog and enjoy her great work!

Have a great day!

Fishing Bait

Happy Birthday

I made this card a while back...for a special birthday.  Perfect for that die hard fisherman!

I used the following cut files:

Man Fishing  designed by Miss Kates Cuttables # 40580(Silhouette Store) and a wave file from the store.

Sentiment is from the Art Impressions stamp set Reel Great Guys #4900. This is an awesome stamp set-especially with Father's Day coming soon. I can't wait to color up the images...super fun!

Lori Whitlock Pop Up Box Card

Pop Up Cards by Lori Whitlock

I found these patterns in the Silhouette Store and knew I had to make them!. There are many different themes in this style. I have changed this design up to personalize it for the recipients.

This card is for my brother Chris.  My brother has been fighting cancer for over 5 years. He is an amazing person and such an inspiration. He takes chemo everyday and still gets up and goes to work-he always keeps busy driving wheat combines, cats and whatever big machines he can get his hands on! He really is motivated to keep going and live his life to the fullest! What a guy!

He loves to ride motorcycles and also is getting ready to go to Burning Man for a vacation(huge art and music festival in the middle of the Nevada desert). I added the motorcycle and the Burning Man icon(instead of the camper) to make this special for him! I also changed the front black panels into road pieces by cutting  little rectangles to mimic center dividing road lines and adding a yellow piece behind.  I added some of the trees and the clouds on pop dots for added dimension. I included  a panel on the back of the card to write my message.  These files are so easy to personalize! I love this card design!

This second card is for my friend in Alaska. She works for a School Bus company.  With all the trees this just reminded me of Alaska. I thought long and hard about deleting the sun on this one LOL!! Maybe should have added more clouds and some rain??!

Father's Day Fisherman-Silhouette Challenges

Silhouette Challenges

Challenge #37 "Anything Goes"
Starts: May 1
Ends: May 31

Doesn't this character tickle you? I just grinned when I first saw this cut file created by Snapdragon Snippets and purchased through the Silhouette Store.  My Sweetie's Father is quite a Fisherman-so this card was just perfect for his Father's Day Card. He's one of those guys that watches the mailbox for his special card! I just love that!

I used some SU! craft for the base of this card and then The Paper Loft Hooked on Fishing 6x6 patterned paper.  The fun part of this card was searching through all my scrap drawers for just the right color of browns and greens to use.  It has a gazillion pieces, but was so fun to put together!

I couldn't stop at Mr.Fisherman, I had to make his  'wife' too. Meet Gardener Gal. I made her for Fisherman's wife's birthday! These cards look so fun sitting side by side. They are rather large...A7 size. about 5.5 x 7.25, so they take a special envelope.

I used a yellow base and different pieces from my scrap drawers for Gardener Gal. A fun part of these files was deciding which pieces to add pop dots too..such fun dimension!

There are a whole series of designs like this, so you will probably see more down the road!

I am entering these in the following challenges:

Penny Black Masculine Challenge

Mid Way Reminder

Masculine

I adore this Charlie Chaplin cling stamp!  He looks so happy dancing around with his pointy shoes!

I found some Chaplin quotes online and printed this on to my card base. I colored Charlie with lots of browns and then cut him out with my ScanNCut2 machine. I added him to the card with pop dots and that was it!!!

Thanks Coach-Penny Black Saturday Challenge May

Masculine

I made this Thanks Coach Baseball Box as a perfect compliment for  this darling Field of Dreams stamp! I colored him with copics and added him on to the baseball with pop dots. The box is fairly large (5 x 6.5) so you can add lots of goodies to surprise your coach.  Both my little grandsons play on teams so I am sure I will be making more than one! Sorry this pic is just a little blurry.

I cut out the image on my Scan n Cut 2 with a .04 border.

65 Mustang Birthday Card

Silhouette Challenges

Challenge #36 "Anything Goes"
Starts: April 1
Ends: April 30

Welcome to the April Anything Goes Challenge over at
We would love, love, love to see what you are doing with your machine these days!

Today I am showing off a guy card! My sweetie had a birthday and he told me he wanted a 65 Mustang...so this is as close as I could get LOL!

This is a cut file from the Silhouette Store designed by Megan Hardy.  It cut so nicely, but fair warning...this is a BIG card. I cut it to size and it turned out to be 10.5 inches long. That posed a wee bit of a challenge to photograph...the darned thing would not fit in my light box!

It was easy to put together...I must say I fell in love with the tires-they are so fun-check out the close up !

Make It Masculine

What could be more masculine than Daddy taking a little nap in the back yard hammock? Aww..the memories!  My Dad used to do this all the time!

For today's card, I kept everything very simple, just did some copic coloring and adding the image onto a garden of colored cardstock. Pretty simple!

I do hope you will join our  Make it Masculine challenge! That could be in masculine image, colors, boy themes, baby boys...use your imagination!

Father's Day Box Card

A quick post before I am out the door to work(cherry harvest has begun!)

I made this card for my Sweetie's Dad-he is quite the fisherman! This is another box card from Lori Whitlock--- Fishing Box Card  (purchased from the Silhouette Store)!  I used some special patterned paper from The Paper Loft named Hooked on Fishing.  I have linked up the paper that I found online-but I bought mine at a convention.

And dang if it doesn't look like the fish are swimming upside down LOL! We have tricky fish here in Oregon LOL!

I love that it folds flat and fits in a standard A2 envelope!

Off I go-enjoy your summer Father's Day!

House Mouse and Friends Masculine Challenge!

House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge #166-

Anything Masculine!

Have the Ride of You Life!

Welcome to challenge #166!

I had fun with this card...Motorcycles are big with the boys(and a few girls) in my family, so this will be a perfect card for one of them!  I used a fun Speed Limit file from the Silhouette Store and then I will add Happy Birthday and  numbers  of their actual age inside! Since I have 4 brothers, and tons of nephews and nieces that sport cycles, I don't think I will have a hard time passing this card on soon!

Our challenge this time is hosted by our dear Kate!
