Day Eight of 12 Days of 3D Christmas

Welcome back for Day 8 of the our 12 Days of 3D Christmas at Creations by AR!

Today is my turn to be hostess and I chose to use the gift card cut file, and do you blame me!??!!
                              Tis the Season!

I know you are are as busy as I am, so I chose to make a fast, easy and very cool gift card! I fell in love with this the first time I saw it posted. I love how it folds up and can be used as a tag and a gift card and hung right on the tree or tied onto a bag or present!  I have several special friends that I wanted to give a Starbucks gift card to so I made THREE of these to show you today.
I downloaded a freebie font called Lynda Cursive and cut out the initials. I ran my letters through the Xyron(do this with your letters upside down so the sticky gets on the front of the letter)  and then dipped them in some sparkly Martha Stewart red glitter. I attached the letters with dimensionals. To complete the gift card holder I added a few pretty punched snowflake elements and I was done!

A quick peek inside the open gift card...(sorry for the dark picture.)

Each day there will be a different promotion, so make sure to keep checking Paper Craft Planet group each day to see the great projects posted!
Leave a comment on th PCP page for a chance to win this template.
For those of you without an electronic cutting machine, this gift tag comes in a file for electronic cutting machines as well as PDF's for those who like to whip out their scissors and create!

House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge #104-Happy 3rd Anniversary

This is the second post of the day...you can find my OUTLINES creation HERE.

Happy 3rd Anniversary Blog Hop

We have so much going on with this fun Birthday/(optional using flowers challenge)!!!  This is our 3rd Anniversary Blog Hop (if you have come here from Tracy's blog, you are right on track) for our challenge blog and also a celebration to welcome a new mousie team member to our blog.  Today we are welcoming Vicki Parsons from Stamped Smiles to our Design Team. Welcome Vicki!
We are also welcoming back some of our past Design Team Members for our blog hop today. I am just tickled to welcome back some teamies that have always been so inspirational to me! I do hope you can take the time to hop along with us and have a chance to win some of the awesome prizes being offered along the way!!!

I made this fun cupcake holder using a couple of svg files I found online. (I will list them at the bottom of this post for you )
Yesterday was my middle child's birthday...Happy Birthday Abby! I made this for her! Of course I had to include the meeces in our party!!!

I wanted to make Abby a yummy cupcake and goodies to put on her little cupcake stand, but I ended up painting the inside of a  house(not mine though) for the last two weekends. DRATS...my time was way too short to complete all the fun things I had in my head for this project. I got home late tonight so I ran to the store and bought this cupcake to finish off the stand before I gave it to her. Nothing like sneaking in under the wire!
You can't tell from the picture, but the top holder piece is a fancy scalloped circle with circles cut out. Maybe if you look real close at the picture below you can see the pretty design.

I am offering this Mousie Stamp set for my blog candy. I just ask that you leave a comment here on my blog as well as play along with our Birthday celebration challenge!

The rest of our prizes this week!

Trick or Treat Goodie bag-Pattern by Shery K Designs

I made this cute little treat bag with a freebie SVG cut file that I got from Shery K Designs. You can find it HERE!  Shery has the best free digi's, digi papers, and cut files along with designs offered for sale. I am always in awe of anyone with those wonderful techie type skills. Being somewhat "technically" challenged---  learning and relearning this stuff can be frustrating.

Just a note: If you go to cut this file, Shery has included a post with the sizes to cut each piece...of which I figured out after I finished this...but I managed to size this pretty darned good anyway... (it just would have been faster had I realized the sizes were there).

Today  I went to cut some pretty flowers for a new cyber friend in need and I had almost forgotten how to use my SCAL program with my cricut. OH my...I need to get with it. Good thing I have a techie son who quickly "refreshed" me. I am forever saving things and then not being able to find them again.  The story of my life.........I blame it on having kids.

I think I will try to make more SCAL projects so I can stay "refreshed"!!!  Stay tuned.....

Happy Birthday Luke--- Thing 1 and Thing 2 Dr. Suess

Gwamma is so happy and so sad....Yep, today is the day. My little grandson Lukey is having his first birthday party...and I am not there! What a sad Gwamma I am...I have had and extreme cough/cold/crud thing for over a month and decided yesterday that it would not be a nice thing to pass this on to a full house of partiers and my sweet Lukey too. You know I could not keep my hands of my little boys and would have to give them lots of keeezus!
So here I sit, with a bowl of oaties and a tissue wishing I were there :(...

But technology to the rescue...Having techie kids is just plain wonderful. My son will take pics and my daughter is going to skype me when the party begins, so I can at least see Lukey with his birthday cake. That makes me feel better already!

I googled Dr Suess to find these fun svg's to use for this invite along with the Boys will be Boys cricut cartridge for the kite. If you are a little rusty on your Dr Suess facts (like me) Thing 1 and Thing 2 like to run through the house with their kites, causing mayhem wherever they go. I think that is a fitting description of both Cole and Luke! You can find this svg HERE and HERE.  My daughter wrote the clever poem on the back., Dr Suess style!

Tomorrow I will show you the card I made for Lukey's birthday along with a pic of the birthday boy, so stay tuned! On Monday I will be passing off my Amber Inks Purple torch as well, so check back in to see who will be running with the torch next......

Shelly's svg heart card! Happy Valentine's Day

Shelly Watson over at Paper and Flowers worked up this gorgeous svg to use with the cricut/scal program. It is so pretty and delicate! I made the pink card out of DP from Bo Bunny/SU pink cardstock and then I made another  one out of different misc scraps of Stampin Up DP. This is a great way to use up little scraps of coordinating paper! I added  little pink crystals to the card above and some shiny silver bling to the black card.

ETA: Shelly's svg is not available  for download anymore, but she told me if you become a follower of her blog, she would be more than happy to send you the file!

The red heart on this one is on pop dots. The sentiment is out of the Pieces of My Heart Penny Black set.

This card does not stand on its own, so it is a challenge to photograph, but this is what is looks like opened up so you get an idea what it looks like when it is first cut out. You add all the pretty little hearts to the front of this cut out. Shelly gives you everything you need in her design!  Cute huh?

Creations by AR- Box template

Another wonderful template to share with you from the new release at Creations by AR. This template has TWO boxes in it and can be whipped up in just a few minutes. You can see this set - Totally Tote-able HERE.  Really, it only took about 15 minutes to cut it out and glue it together! (and that's because I am a newbie!) Now, it takes me a while to decide on the decorations....I am always slow on layout! I decided to cut out a bunch of pretty snowflakes from my 'When It's Cold Outside" cricut cartridge...ahhh it is true, no two snowflakes are alike! This is a pretty good size box, so you could add a nice size surprise  inside. (5 3/4 x 3)

Just a reminder that I will be giving away one of these templates free. All you have to do is leave me a comment before Sunday 6pm PST. Each DT member will be offering up a winner as well, so make sure to visit them all:

Creations by AR--3D Fireplace

I am so glad you have stopped by to see my Fireplace card made with a brand new  file from Creations by AR. I was so honored to be asked to be a guest designer for this release. Thanks Adela!

If you have followed my blog for very long, you know I am a newbie to the world of Cricut and SCAL programs. My first real venture into the world of electronic cutter patterns was with Adela's pumpkin file...and boy was I hooked! Not only am I using my Cricut more, but I am learning the SCAL program too! I am not always the most techie person, but I can tell you these files cut like a dream. I can assemble one of her projects in just minutes...and adding the finishing touches is so much fun!

This file includes  the card, wreath, stockings, fire and logs and Santa as well. You can view it HERE.

Adela from Creations by AR has so graciously offered to award one of her new templates to each design team member to give away  for this release. Soooo...that means all you have to do is leave a comment on any one of my AR Creations that I post through Sunday (6 pm PST at the latest) to qualify for my blog's drawing. My winner will be announced Monday morning. Make sure to visit all the blogs to see all the great creations today and tomorrow. I can't wait myself!!!

In this view, you can see the dimension of the card.  You can open the top closure and the card will  flatten out for mailing! Pretty nifty!!!  You can also see that I added a couple little pieces of acetate  to hold up my gold trees on top of the mantle.
I love the logs and fire inside this card....I think that is my favorite part! I found this brick embossing plate in the cake decorating dept at Michaels. It is meant for fondant frosting, but gave a great impression on my cardstock. I also used some of my neglected Martha punches...the fern, tree and reindeer  are all Martha punches. I added some gold pearls and ribbon for the finishing touches.

ETA: Did you know that Tim Holtz has a fade brick embossing folder that would be a perfect touch to this template? Saw it today on my blog hopping.

Happy Fathers Day! A cricut/scal card

I made this card for my Dad for Father's Day. Now let me confess, I have had my cricut and the software progam Sure Cuts A Lot since Christmas and never just sat down to figure it out. Well...I had this specific card I wanted to make for my Dad...he loves antique or classic cars so I knew he would like this card!

Through trial and error and some help from Jamie and Diane(thanks again) and this tutorial from Lauren Meader HERE, I managed to "get 'er done"!  I learned a lot and  managed to cut, flip, resize by percentage, break apart, ungroup and group and weld all from this one video tutorial. I am so excited to learn  how to do these basic functions...now if I can just remember how I did it all. (you should see the pile of poor trucks that didn't pass my final test LOL...looks like a wrecking  yard for sure!)

I guess one thing I learned is to be careful when adding glue...I have lots of little smudges and alignment issues that bug me, but my Dad won't have a clue LOL! Live and learn!

You can see in the picture below that I flipped and welded the truck for a mirror image to make it a card that will open and stand up on it's own. How fun! Inside it says Happy Father's Day....you are a real Classic!

Now if you look further down you will see what he gets along with his truck...his favorite treat ever!

You can find the recipe for this kitchen aide fudge on my blog HERE.  You can also go to my labels at the right in my blog and click on Cookies to find lots of goodies!

Hope you all have a wonderful day...Don't forget that tomorrow is a new challenge at House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge! See ya there!
