I inked up the Lilac stamp  directly with Lilac Distress Ink and used a Tombow marker to add a bit of edge color.  I added the light stenciling box for the sentiment. All such pretty Penny Black goodies!

Lori Whitlock Inspiration-Sympathy cards

A2 Deer Scene Pop Dot Card (Lori WhitlockSilhouette Store)

A2 Aspen Tree Pop Dot Card (Lori Whitlock, Silhouette Store)

5x7 Shadow Box Card Deer Hills (Lori WhitlockSilhouette Store)

For my inspiration cards today I am showing you the lovely sympathy cards I have been making. These beautiful designs are perfect for sympathy cards or calm beautiful winter  designs. I live in the country and always have deer walking past my window almost every day. They are such graceful animals!

The pop dot cards are fast and easy. I used the slim pop up dimensional strips to make these fast and easy. Add each layer either in to the corner of your Misti or Scrap Pal each time and the layers will line up perfectly.

I hope you enjoy these creations.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge-May Pastels

  Penny Black Saturday Challenge

May Inspiration

2024 Challenge

Anything Goes

or the optional theme-

'Pastels'

I decided to try the brushstroke stamps again. Jill Foster from Penny Black makes that technique look so easy!

I made my first try and all the colors were running all over-too much misting! If you could see the other side of this panel-you would laugh! FYI-It  only takes a teeny tiny spritz of water.

I flipped the Bristol smooth watercolor paper over and gave it another try. I used Tombow pens #126 (a light green),#723 (pink) and just a bit of #993 (dk yellow) and misted with a little SU! mister. The little mister was really nice with a very fine mist, but this operator got carried away the first go round!

After I finished stamping, I cut it out with a sweet Penny Black square die and added a pink panel behind the die cut so the pink would show through the dots around the edging. I added the panel on to the card base with foam tape. Viola!

Penny Black Saturday Challenge for May. ATG or Nature

May 2022 Challenge

Anything Goes

or the optional theme-

Nature

Seems I always need a few sympathy cards on hand so I used this pretty flower set along with my new zig-zag stacker dies. After adding a bit of distress inks (crushed olive and peeled paint) around the image and added a bit of stamped off greenery around the edge to fill out the card. Penny Black has the prettiest sentiment sets to go with their wonderful stamp images!

Sympathy Card with Pop Up Frames-My Scrap Chick

When you make a sympathy card...you want it to be special and to show the love and support you wish to show to the family.  We recently lost a a family friend-someone who ran the neighborhood with us as children.  I made this for his family.

This is my version of the PopUp Frame from My Scrap Chick.

  What I did:
Cut the scrolls from the top of the frame file and made my base by tracing the  bottom scroll piece and removing the inside square line so this piece became the solid piece for the card base (cut two). I used three 12x12 pieces of white Bazzil cardstock and this cut enough for 2 cards with a little left over. I used the squares cut out from the top scroll pieces to stamp my images on.

Tip:
I know 'scrolly' pieces can be somewhat difficult to cut if your mats are not sticky so I used a new blade and a newer mat (I use Cricut light stick mats in my Silhouette).  By taking these steps my card pieces cut absolutely perfect!

Finishing Touches:
I added dimension tape pieces between the layers for the same feel you can get from the frame.  I used a lovely sympathy set from Verve Stamps named Forever In Our Hearts and did a little off stamping for the leaf. I did not want the color to overwhelm the card.

I think this is just a beauty...I might have to try some more Pop Up frames for cards...stay tuned!

Someone So Special

I have not been very inspired to craft these last few weeks, but today I had to finish this card.

I made this sympathy card for the family of a long ago coworker and friend. She actually trained me on the computer---imagine how long ago that was!  I still smile when I think of her trying to teach me which key to push-(sort of like the movie 50 first dates) I am sure she wanted to pull out  her lovely long blond hair, but she was always soft spoken and oh so patient with me. She would be proud and very relieved to know her efforts paid off!

I used a pretty card file from the Silhouette store and a wonderful Verve stamp set named Forever in Our Hearts(and currently on sale for $19.20)  Probably the best stamp set ever. You can see another Sympathy card Here that I made with the same set.  Purple is such a hard color to photograph, so please accept my apologies about that...

RIP D.J.

WOYWW 192

I made this pretty sympathy card for a dear friend. I wanted it to be a  special  creation for her.
I used a freebie svg cut from Birds Cards for the swirly back drop. I also used a pretty new stamp set I won from winning a MOJO Monday Challenge. It is a Verve stamps-just lovely. I added some silky May Arts ribbon and a few pearls to finish it off.

I made a pretty  box envelope for 3D  creations using another Birds freebie.

I need a crew to help me...I have been looking for a specific stamp all night!!! Opening every drawer and looking through them 2 and 3 times. I know it is probably sitting in plain site too. Frustrating!!!
I think I will call a truce for the night  and  hope it's hiding place comes to me in my sleep! Argghhh...

I am off to bed, but not before I pop in to say hello to Julia and a few others over at What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday. You can take a peek at desks all over the world too(and if you spot a missing penguin stamp-please let me know)

Good night-Sue

What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday #170

 What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday

Remember this desk from when I last posted for WOYW?W??? (yes, the cheez-it's are long gone)
Welllllll- seems my "craftiness" is growing in the room behind me...right behind me is an IKEA shelf that I bought, thinking it would keep my "stuff" organized.

Need to work on that part........

You can see a big pile of paper I brought from upstairs, part of some words I cut with my Silhouette for a mini album I am making, and on the floor you can see my copics. Seems my crafty stuff migrated downstairs to the family room over the long weekend!  You can also see a chalkboard we made for Abby's wedding last year.  I decided to play with my toys this weekend instead of organize, so that's my excuse.  Works for me!

Below you can see a pretty card I made with my Silhouette and a lovely Stampin Up sentiment.
 The full card
A close up of the front panel for you Charla :)

I made this with some retired SU! DP and kraft cardstock. Such a pretty card! I love all the layered tags(all 4 of them-held together with brads).

That's my tour today-come back again..maybe I will more organized...or maybe not! I seem to be making up for loss of crafting time during harvest and don't really want to stop.  I hope my stuff is not piled to the roof next week. Ha!

Take a few minutes and hop over to Julia's place and check out desks from all over the world!

This was a quick sympathy card I made using the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #57.  I love all the cards I have seen with this sketch!

One of those cards you don't like to have to make, but I made this for a coworker who lost his mother today. I just can't imagine...

Praying for friends
to comfort you
faith to uphold you,
and loving memories
to heal your heart.

A quick post as I need to go pack for a weekend away to go see the new little Luke and Big Brudder Cole!

Thoughts and Prayers

A dear friend lost his mother unexpectedly on New Years Day so I made a Sympathy card for him and an extra to have on  hand.  Always a tough card to have to make, but so important to give. This Stampin Up set-Thoughts and Prayers- is so classy...love it. Actually, this whole card is SU!

I actually made two versions, but not on purpose. I was stamping away and dropped the inside sentiment stamp on the bottom of one of my prepared front panels. What's a girl to do then...IMPROVISE! I cut off the "offending" ink smear and added a pretty little scallop so the front piece would fit my already cut card base. I actually liked that one better!

Stayed tuned for a couple of fun cards this week...a great  3 Clovers Challenge as well as a fun surprise on Friday! Stay tuned!
