What's On Your Workdesk #105

What the heck is on my workdesk tonight?
If you missed out on last week's What's On You Workdesk? Wednesday, boy did you miss a great one. The second anniversary hop was just grand! I bet we will see all the Pay It Forward gifties that some of the players made start showing up on desks...can't wait for the reveals!
I am showing a project I have been working on here and there this week. Really just making it as I go, not a clue what I am doing.  I am making one of those flip flop mini albums without any instructions. Now--- in my younger  days we called them THONGS...now who in the world stole that word and gave it to that skinny little underwear????? I always have to catch myself so I don't say thong...the young girlies look at me funny when I say I am looking for my thongs...I mean reallllllllly!!!!!

OKAY...back to my project...
A learning as you go project, but I need a little input from my fellow WOYWWer's. I see a lot of  you are altered artists so I KNOW you will have this answer...
What type of glue or adhesive will stick this thin cardboard to the bottom of this rubber flip flop (aka thong)?  I used some 3 and 1 liquid glue to glue down the DP to the lightweight cardboard and dang it...it is coming apart, so went back to my ATG for reinforcement.  HELP!!!

The High School class colors are yellow and blue so all the fun little additions and ribbons will be in those colors.

Well, I am off to go watch The Voice after going through American Idol withdrawals. If you get a chance, pop over to Julia's and play along with us diehard WOYW?Wer's!

Always said flip-flops which my Belgian hubby still finds amusing. I would use Glossy Accents - I've stuck everything with that including metal yet it's kind to paper or you have the original Hi Tack bottles and Matt Medium form Claudine Hellmuth - that will need weighting while it dries but it's fab too.
Have a good WOYWW,

You can use any of the above glues or I would use a pva glue and run over it a few times with a brayer to stop it buckling - looks like you are having fun there! I love shaped mini books especially the summer ones! Thanks for sharing - Sunshine Girl (no. 31)

Lol! Love the thongs - flipflop analogy! :) I have no idea about the glue but it looks awesome.Happy WOYWW!
Oh, I just remembered. I use Golden's or Liquitex's gel medium to glue stuff on canvas. Maybe it helps.

Always been known as flip flops to me but I know the Aussies call them thongs. You can see why they pinched the name for the ladies unmentionables because they look like flip flops/thongs from the back oh er missus. the book looks tantalising and I would recommend Glossy accents as well if you have it (super glue is really cheap from pound/dollar shops if you don't but be careful) Dxx

I am surprised the 3 in 1 didn't hold it. I made a flip flop (thong!!!!) book on a scrapbooking cruise and it held it no problems. Irritating that one time it will work and the next not. Thanks for sharing. Vickie #50

Yeah, we called them thongs too. I've made many a head snap when forgetting to use the proper word these days.

Yep, I'm also from the "thong" area and have to catch myself all the time! LOL Good luck with those flip-flop albums! I recently created a flip-flop 50th Bday card (which I never photographed) and even though it was made with card stock & DP, it kept coming apart too! I designed my card around an actual flip-flop too! LOL Have fun! And yep, I still see those awesome horse images on your desk too :)

I used to call them flip flaps but I'm always told flip flops, not heard of them called thongs. but then we say trousers and not pants! It all looks good to me! Now, last week (and this week) I was having trouble commenting and I left a comment saying you'd made the 100 visit score on my new follower widget thingy, but I think it must have been one of many that didn't get through! SO!!! I have a little prize in a way of a thank you coming your way if you send me your addy!

I'm sorry i don't know what kind of adhesive would work.. really?? it was called Thongs?? wow, i didn't know. They call it "ZOURI" in Guam (from Japanese influence from before the war time), and in Hawaii, they call it "Slippers"! No Hawaiian called them flip flops. They call our/real "slippers', Slippers too... confusing! lol.. :-(

From the looks of your awesome blog it doesn't appear you need any help with the wedding. ...haha however, if there is something like a file I have that you need just let me know and I'll send it. thanks for leaving such a nice positive comment.

Hey, girlfriend...you need some E-6000...it's like iron. You will probably have to let it dry overnight.

What a great idea! Too funny...hee,hee...I introduced my little sister to "thong" underwear..you should have heard her shrieking in the dressing room at the store!

I actually laughed out loud when I read thongs. My daughter was hosted in Australia on a spots tour. She was horrified that the mother and daughter of the family could discuss whether they should buy the brother blue or black thongs - and then, horror of al horrors, they did so at the dinner table! She was very relieved to find out they were talking about shoes.
Can't help with what glue to use, but love what you are doing.
Happy WOYWW!

Hi, Sue! Your album/flip-flop is cute! Have you tried the ultimate crafter's glue?It glues wood, metal, plastic, canvas, etc. It's not toxic and no odor.
I hope you can fix the glue issue.

Oh, my gosh -- cute! Had to laugh at the whole flip flop/thong thing! Yup, if I said I wore my thongs to the beach, they'd probably think I was wearing two pair of underwear!
