What's On Your Workdesk ? Wednesday #123-Woodworking for the Wedding

Yep...You ask what in the heck is this...??????????  Yep....it is wedding preparations in progress!
Here's the little bride-to-be sanding the edges of the wood. Can you guess what these might turn out to be? I hope they will be all done next Tuesday and then I will show you!
Remember this old mirror from a past WOYWW that I showed you  a while back?

Gorgeous carving but no mirror...what a shame to waste this. I bought it at a garage sale for $3. Wait till you see it when it is complete. When my Dad and I  were looking at it, we got to wondering if the first owner had hidden something like a million dollars behind the lining...we got a little curious...
Yep...I bet there is something very valuable hidden in there........
Dad and I cut it open to see what might be behind it....

No million dollars, but a piece of interesting history. How long ago did they have phone numbers that were 3 digits? (now we have 10) If I called up #674 do you think I would get The Broadway Inc? Ha!

Here I am working/sanding on pattern #3...took 3 tries to get it just right!Wait to you see it all finished!

no million dollars.........but ready to be repurposed!

and this is what my living room looks like tonight...remember that first picture of stacked wood at the beginning of the post????-here they are all primed up and ready for completion! I am off to wash the paint off my hands and head to bed!

My whole house is a work desk this week LOL!  Take a few minutes and stop by and say Hello to Julia at What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday!

I can so relate. Our house has been one big work room all year with all the projects we tackled since hubby retired.

No idea what your making with the wood, but I'm sure it will be fabulous like all your projects are!

Hi there. Just a quick peek around the door this week as time is definitely not on my side! I did want to visit though. What a fascinating post, thanks for sharing!

The Broadway Inc Wearing Apparel is like a flashback to a bygone age! I can imagine some 20s flapper admiring herself in that mirror. Better than a million bucks!!

I see you have joined those of us whose craft rooms are too small for the projects. You show some pretty decent sneak peeks. Would love to see the completed projects, including the mirror. Happy WOYWW from # 11.

Gosh Sue, you've been over run by teeny stepping stones! Whatever the pieces of wood are for, I just know already it will be a fab idea. The Mirror liner is amazing, I wonder if the company still exists in any form.

Gosh what an interesting post! Love the fact that you are all working with your Dad, great to still have him doing these things, and are you sure your daughter is old enough to be getting married?? She looks about 15 in that photo! Can't think what the wood squares are for, table centres perhaps?

I guess I could take a picture of my desk in my classroom since I'm back teaching for 2 weeks....a computer art media digital class...30 high schoolers in each class....too bad about the million dollars but what fun bit of history you found!! So curious about the wood planks...love seeing how everything is progressing....what fun!!!

I can't imagine what you're making out of the plaques, but I'm thinking perhaps a picture of the bride & groom might be inserted somewhere. Whatever it is, I can't wait to see it. And as for that phone number.......I can still remember our phone # when I was a child. It was 699M LOL. I tore the back off of an old photo I found once, but all I found inside were dust bunnies ;)
