I made this little mini album for my Dad for Father's Day 2011.
I pulled the insides out of the little tool box and grill (the part that held the gift card) and added this little mini flip album made out of paint chips. I only used 3 paint chips from Home Depot as their chips are so big I could cut them in half. I covered the other side with some cute Basic Grey DP and held them together with a zip tie.
All the sentiments were computer generated and printed in brown ink on Very Vanilla cardstock and then distressed around the edges with brown ink. I then used a SU! corner punch to make them look like tags and added a punched circle of the paint chip at the top---and punched the holes with my long neglected crop-a-dile.
If you think you want to make one, punch the first page and use that for your placement for the circle reinforcement and to make sure all your holes line up correctly. Thread a zip tie through the back and secure, leaving a pretty large circle so that you can flip open your album.. I used a small 4 inch zip tie. (I bought a bag of them at Home Depot for something like $2)
I cut the little bones using a freebie SVG file from My Time To Craft.
The gift card holders are $2.99 each and just made the cutest giftie. My Dad liked the mini album better than the gift certificate. He said he would have been happy with album! Don't ya just love it? He so loves his doggies.
I watch a weekly Ustream from Laura at The Paper Trail. This lady makes the most amazing mini albums...and sells a lot of her patterns too. She did a Ustream presentation this last Friday night making these fun Home Depot mini's. You can go to her Ustream page as she tapes them all so you can re-watch later. Great stuff!
I googled Dog sentiments and added one on each page.
This is the first page and will have a pic of my Dad and his dogs that I took today. I fun calender Technique Tuesday date stamp.
All my dogs have been scamps and thieves and troublemakers and I adore them all.
Properly trained, a man can be a dog's best friend.
Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.
Folk will know how large your soul is by the way you treat your dog.
Work can wait another 30 minutes, there are more important things to do.
Like throwing sticks.
The pages are put together with a zip tie. Add a little bit of crystal effects or glue on the top and bottom of the clasp so the tie does not move.
You will need a holder...these are from Home Depot( Laura showed some that looked like Wii machines etc)
6 pages or so (2 1/2 x 3 3/34 for the tool box)
Zip tie or a clip closure of some sort
Fun DP (enough to cover 6 pages on one side) Basic Grey max and whiskers paper pad
Your stamped images and/or pictures.
Pretty simple and fast!
