Dance In the Rain-WOYW?W

Happy Anniversary!

I had an interesting time making this card. You see...I am not much of a technique stamper. Give me pretty paper and copics and I am a happy camper. Give me something that makes messes-and I make messes---awww not so much.

By chance I saw this easy technique on Splitcoast Stampers and decided to give it a whirl. I ordered some pretty Distress Paint Daubers from Inspiration Emporium, cut up some watercolor papers and went to town. First thing I did was open up a dauber (instead of pulling off the little protective cap) and accidently spilled it all over. Okay. Try. Again.

Be more careful Sue.

I finally got the swing of dabbing the dauber (that's fun to say) on my embossing folders and coming up with some pretty designs. (a few ugly ones too LOL) So that means you will see a few more designs come through in the next couple of weeks! I did some pewter, a pewter and antiqued bronze one that is lovely, and a couple lilac and tumbled glass-a light turquoisey color.

For the card above I used the Pewter Distress Paint dauber and a musical note embossing folder. I  was a little disappointed that it doesn't show so much, but the wonderful pewter paint looks so pretty-wish you could see the sheen-lovely! I then stamped the Stampers Anonymous Good Thoughts sentiment and layered it all up on shimmer pewter/silver paper and some more watercolor and black. The 'rain dancing girl' is a cut file from the Silhouette Store. I would have loved to add Charlie Chaplin there instead...but sheesh-I don't have it!

Now that I have cleaned all the bronze paint off my hands and desk-I was good to go again.  I made another card just like this in pastels...Love that the Tim woodgrain embossing folder-I think it looked like rain....

Having several daughters that tap  danced their way through school, these cards are for them!

Last week for WOYW?W-What's On Your Workdesk? Wednesday-- I showed off my desk and my oh my...it was a mess. Shamed me in to taking EVERYTHING off and giving it a good wash and putting it back together again. It is nice to have a little order-if only for a while!!!

Clean today-let's see what next week brings!

a few more  samples of the watercolor backgrounds I made!

Do pop over and say Hello to Julia  at the Stamping Ground -I know she would love to hear from you. The big 5 year anniversary is here!!!

See you soon!

Sue

  7. First of all, your desk looks so clean and beautiful, Sue! I'm like that, too. It can get only so messy and I have to stop and clean it up or it impedes the mojuice. I think your design is stunning and your execution is flawless after your initial spillage. I just love them!! Happy WOYWW 5th Anniversary! Hugs, Darnell #26

  11. Sounds like you are starting to get the hang of it, the products are fantastic and the result you have achieved brilliant. You can see a little sheen but probably better IRL. Keep it going you are doing great.

    Happy 5th WOYWW Anniversary

  15. Wow, wow! Your background is awesome and it doesn't matter one whit that the notes, etc don't show. It looks so cool! Kind of like a stone wall, actually. Absolute perfection with the die cut and quote. Love the second one, as well, and the other GORGEOUS backgrounds you made. I'm not very technique oriented, either. Too busy coloring these days, I guess. But this looks like something I might like to try. Pardon me, but I had to laugh at your messy story. Sounds like me!
