Happy New Year and Welcome to the first Blog Hop of 2011 at House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge Blog. We always have so much fun and have some Super Doooooper prizes to give away this time! You can see all the sponsors and prizes on the challenge blog. There will be lots of winners this time around...each prize will go to a different person AND.........there is hidden blog candy along the hop as well. You must leave a comment here and then as you hop along, leave each DT member a comment as well as one on the main blog to be considered for the prizes. You have to have a card entered to win the main blog candy and the last I heard, our sponsors were RK Stamps, Simon Says, Di's Digi Downloads, and Joanna Sheen and the Official House- Mouse Designs!
You could be a winner! (ha that sounds like a TV commercial doesn't it?)
We also would like to introduce our first Guest Designer for January 2011-Tracy and her blog is Country Mouse! (now isn't that just the perfect blog name??) We hope you all play along and get a shot at being one of our guest designers this year!
Okay...a little bit about this card I made for our challenge this week-New Beginnings! This card sort of "morphed" You know what I mean??? You start out with a specific idea and the next thing you know, things have changed. Well...my "New Beginning" for 2011 was to use all the wonderful DP I own and not hoard my favorites and not go out and buy a ton until I make a dent in what I have...and Guess WHAT??? I took a nice little Michaels and Craft Warehouse gift card to the big city this weekend and promptly bought a bunch of "purty" paper! Oh well, I guess it makes me happy, but it does put my card in a different context now LOL!
Oops, almost forgot to mention that I used the sketch from SFYTT over at I (heart) 2 Stamp. This is a year long challenge. A once a month deal...let's see if I can remember!!!!
I hope you can hop along with all our team below and then hop along to TRACY's blog for the next stop! All our teamies are back and joining in! You have two weeks to link your creation on the main blog!
Follow the blog hop trail here:
Curt-yeah he is joining in!

Loved reading your story about your card. And laughed about you buying MORE paper! I've estimated that I have over 4,000 sheets of paper, and I've said "NO MORE"! I have also told myself that I'm going to make more of my background paper myself. It's been fun being back with you guys. Thanks for that little blurb by my name. You always make me feel great! Happy New Year to you and your family! Best, Curt

ReplyDeleteI've been getting rid of paper over the last few days so this really chimed in with my start to the new year - the shredder has been working hard. Love the way you've got matching colours of those sheets of paper with the patterned paper - the different reds really make an impact & I love the expression on Mousie's face.

ReplyDeleteI simply adore this image. I love the image, it reminds me of me in my craft room! Love the colours and them papers. Happy New Year. Jeanette
ReplyDeleteLove the image! Great colors!
ReplyDeleteI love those colors together! Fabulous card!
ReplyDeleteTee-hee, that's exactly how I felt going back to work today! That card is just too adorable!
ReplyDeleteAnd that is exactly how I feel about patterned paper...I always say "no, no, no" but then I cannot resist! Aqua and red is one of my favorite combos, so it looks like I'll have to add another one to my wishlist! :)
LOL!!! So much for resisting all those wonderful papers!! One of my resolutions is to use what I have, especially those piles of scraps! But my second resolution is to admit that resistance is futile, so I will give in when I know I'm beat by all that fabulous new paper that I haven't even dreamed about yet! Love your card. So cute how you popped up the layer of paper this cutie is piled under!!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the coloring and I love the papers! Very nice!
ReplyDeleteTotally cute, and I LOVE those papers!
ReplyDeleteGreat card!!! Loved reading your little history about the card. I'm not the only one out there with lots of paper and then can't resist buying more.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, adorable little guy on your card.
Happy New Year!
Love the card, that image is ME this week. back to work after being off for almost 2 weeks. I think I should retire early.lol
ReplyDeleteI think the setting I used for the vinyl are blade at 5, speed is at the slowest, and pressure med. This gal(http://www.obsessedwithscrapbooking.com/2009/05/cricut-settings-table.html) has a table you can download, I never can find mine when I need it so just cut and hope for the best.
My friend just told me you should try these settings: blade depth = 3
ReplyDeletepressure = 2 (so it cuts thru the vinyl but not the backing)
speed = 3
She has been doing more of the thicker vinyl like cricut.
I feel like I'm under a stack of papers sometimes, lol! Beautiful card and great background papers.
ReplyDeleteheheheee, awesome! I think I look like that most of the time! LOVELY card!
ReplyDeleteCheers
Cheri
Hee hee I think that's how most of us start the New Year - all the paperwork that has built up over the holidays!
