Heidi Has a BLOG!!!! Mini Flip Album for Grandma Heidi

Grandma Heidi loves to take Ainsley fishing so I made this cute little book for her. I used some of my H & M stamps inside as well, but I am not sure any show in these pictures. They are cute fishing poles, boots and gone fishing signs.

I was browsing my DP the other night and found this simply scrappin' kit(Out and About) from Stampin Up!' Don't know where it came from, but it sure is cute. I really don't scrap,
but this project was fun and quick to put together. I found this tutorial on this cute mini flip album and since I have a "thing" for mini albums, I wanted to make a quick one to send to Heidi in honor of her NEW BLOG! Yes, My stamping sister, Heidi, has finally jumped in with both feet!!! She has such amazing talent...you must go see her wonderful creations HERE!

Please leave her a comment to let her know you stopped in to visit!

This book works best just standing up and open for display. The finished size is 6 x 3. I made it like the tutorial, but would probably change some of my inside design and placement of the little pull outs where you can add pictures.

For this book I closed the pull outs with fun little clips, but I would suggest not putting 2 pull outs on the same side of the page(just to even out the book a little) should you decide to make one yourself. I left plenty of room for granny to journal also.

Please let me see what your flip album looks like should you decide to make one!

The Hero Arts Blog posted a video tutorial here.

This is a close up of the pull out. The pics will be mounted on the front and back of each pull out fold(I think there are 4). Each pull out has a little tab to grab to open it up and is held shut with those goldy little clips you see in the pictures.

Stamps: H and M Stamps

Ink: Choc Chip

Cardstock: all from the simply scrappin kit- OUT and ABOUT, all copyright of StampinUP!

Misc: SUP! ribbon and hardware, misc brads

New awards and great blogs!

I have been awarded a new award designed by Curt at Curt's World. It is an award he designed himself with his own photography and as he explains it --it is a "no strings attached award other than giving it to those who inspire you" You are not required to pass it on, but you can if you want!

************************************************************************************

I received this award from one of my SBS 23 Sister's April at April's Creative Corner.
Thanks April!

Oh and thanks to Carolyn at PMS etc.
I see she gave me one too...Carolyn...you are one of a kind...your words are very touching!
************************

Because I am under the weather this week, I won't nominate any one right now...but I will share some of the first blogs I fell in love with that started it all!

Stampin When I Can

It all started with Allison at Stampin When I Can and turned into this crazy madness. Although I have lots of blogs I follow on my google reader(thanks to Allison again) These are the first I discovered. Allison posts newly discovered blogs everyday...and I try to visit them all...it is amazing what is out there. I am sort of behind on reading my Allison entries, I save them all (again in my google reader) and surf them during the slow days! (when is that?) I guess you can say it's all Allison's fault and since she is on vacation, she won't see this LOL!

These are some of the first blogs I started stalking! I hope you enjoy them and find some blogs you have never visited!

From Courtney's Closet Challenge Pink Lace

Isn't she spiffy? Here is Libby's sweet little Courtney in her fancy party dress!
Check out Libby's From Courtney's Closet Challenge.

I loved working with vellum on this card...have not used it much so it was a treat to dig it out (oooh I only had one piece YIKES!) and try out my new cuttlebug edge embossers on this card. Again, I used my cuttlebug folders and edgers, as well as my scorepal, and Stampin Up punches. This is more of a "tool/toy" card as there is no stamping here LOL!

What I noticed most in Courtney's picture this week, was her cute little "piggies". Aren't babies toes just so sweet? I know I am forever tweaking Cole's little toes and he looks up confused at me and wondering what that crazy "GWAMMA" is doing now! HA!

This gave me an excuse to use one of those little cuttlebug folders I just had to have. Aren't these baby feet sweet?

Just a note on the cuttlebug edge embossers. I had a heck of a time (esp with vellum) with it leaving a line on the cardstock. I tried being tricky with cutting pieces of paper the size of the folder and put on top(to keep roller away from cardstock), I tried only going just far enough to get the impression and not run the folder all the way through and in the end I found if I just threw my tan nestability embossing mat over the skinny little edger and carefully ran it through the folder, I didn't get any line...Viola!!! If anyone else comes up with a better/easier tip, I would love to hear it! I'm still experimenting...

Close up of the piggies.

Stamps: None

Tools: Cuttlebug folders(swiss dots, baby feet, edge embosser), S-Up! circle punch and scallop punch, scorepal

Cardstock: Stampin Up Pink

Misc: Ribbon (this has glittery edges), dimensionals

House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge!

I made this card for the first House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge.
I didn't get it done before the deadline....the Olympics got in the way, but I wanted to post it any way.

I also used the sketch challenge at SCS MTVD07.

The House Mouse challenge was all about "New" so I chose New Baby, but I really wanted to put a sentiment like 'rough day?' or something like that...we all have days like that don't we?

Stamps: House Mouse -Mice Babies HMIR1017, misc sentiment off of a SU stamp (just used one word)

Cardstock: Misc DP and blue

Ink: black, colored with prisma's

Misc: My beloved Martha Stewart scallop punch, brads, ribbon(some SUP!), 1 inch, 7/8 circle punch, dimensionals

Cuttlebug and ScorePal wedding card

I made this card for my friend Charla's daughter, Jackie. She got married today!

I used my cuttlebug swiss dot folder as well as my scorepal. I so love my scorepal (thanks Charla). I also used a cuttlebug embossing border named 'With Love'. These "border bugs" are pretty slick!

I kept this card black and white...her wedding colors. The sentiment is one word singled out off of a retired SUP set. Added black organdy ribbon. The bow just wanted to go wonky, but I decided I kind of liked it that way so I left it.

I wanted to add some clear crystals or some white pearl stick ons to the center of the flowers on the bottom, but living in a little town, there were none to be bought any where. Darn it! Guess I will have to order some online!

Stamps: Retired SUp sentiment (All Year Cheer 1- I think)

Cardstock: GP White, Basic Black SU

Ink: Basic Black SU

Misc: cuttlebug folder swiss dots, embossing edge folder With Love, Scorepal. SUp black organdy ribbon

I won some blog candy!

I won some blog candy from Suzanne Dean at ScrapBitz.
I have only entered for blog candy about 3 times...just too lazy I guess, but she had an interesting question for her blog so I had to comment LOL! --and I liked that little round spider web stamp! ( What a dork they say...)

Make sure to go visit Suzanne's blog and see her wonderful art!

Thanks Suzanne.

Speaking of blog candy...my 5,000 visitor mark just clicked over, sooner than I could anticipate. I have some fun stuff to put up for blog candy for all you wonderful blog friends. I just received an order from All That Scraps in anticipation of this blog milestone. A few more things to get together and I will get that posted some time this week...keep your eyes peeled. You might even see a hint somewhere....

RAK from Khara

I received this cute house mouse RAK card from a new SCS stamping friend I just met, Khara. Her SCS gallery is here if you want to take a peek.

The embossed dots on the bottom of the card have some glittery stickles on them to add some fun bling to this card.

I love your blog award!

I received this award from Katie Renz at My Paper Haven.
As I told Katie 'Hot Dog!'

It is always exciting to get recognition from your fellow stampers. Not for the award, but for me it is the thrill of knowing others enjoy my creations and care enough to share with their blogging friends! Thanks again Katie!

Just remember bloggers, everyone loves it when you comment! Libby at Libby's Little Addiction inspired me early in my blogging days to leave a quick note or comment. I think Libby gets as excited as I do when reading comments. It can really makes someone's day! It doesn't take long, and it means a lot!

Here are the rules:

1. The winner can put the logo on their blog
2. Link the person you received your award from
3. Nominate at least 7 other blogs
4. Put links of those blogs on yours.
5. Leave a message on the blogs of the girls or boys you’ve nominated.

Okay, I have lots and lots of favorite blogs, but here are a few of my new blogging friends that I would love to recognize as an inspiration to me:

1. Kerry at Three Clovers Designs.
Not only does she have a great blog, she is just a darn nice blogging friend

2. Julia at Create With Me.
Now if Julia and I lived nearby, we would be stamping fools along with Kerry :)

3. Cindy at Cindy Haffner's Corner
This stamper can embellish a card like no one else I know. Love her stuff!

4. Curt at Curt's World.
Curt has such wonderful clean cards and can cut out the most intricate layering.

5. Carolyn at P.M.S. etc
Carolyn is a house mouse addict after my own heart, plus a dang nice lady!

6. Nettie at Down the Paper Trail with Nettie
I absolutely love Netties dry embossing, She uses a lot of lasting impressions stencils etc.

7. Judy at Joy in a JAR.
This lady can put together a card like no one I know...and it doesn't hurt that she loves house
mouse stamps too.

These blogs are all ones that I need to add to my blog list when I get some time, but this is a nice way to recognize their inspiration until I get 'er done!

Another Inspiration Challenge. I knowwwwwwwww! This is one heck of a bright card...even blinding. I don't normally make bright colored cards, but for some reason, Little Courtney's wardrobe brings out the color in me.

I bought several of these Inkadinkado kids sayings stamps on my little mini vacation. I just think they are so funny!

Cole's First Birthday

The Sweet Birthday Boy.

Elmo alert...digging in to his cake...first frosting too!

mmmm...this feels as good as it tastes!

Oh no...not a good time to play peek-a-boo!

And this was just a start...but after a quick tub...squeaky clean again!

Here I am...playing with my new toys!

What a wonderful weekend with my sweet grandbaby Cole! I only have at least a zillion pics of this goofy child, so it was tough to narrow down to these pics, but I think they tell the story of his wonderful birthday! Gwamma hated to come home...but I did get to watch him take some of his very first steps...he is getting so brave.

I have come to the realization that grandchildren are the most precious gift this "Gwamma" could ever ask for...

This is the very first sketch challenge card that I made this last week. This card has another colored image I unearthed from a pile I had colored at least a year ago. I guess it was waiting for me to be inspired to use it...finally!

I think this was a SplitCoast Dirty Dozen Fan Club sketch that was held two or three weeks ago. I told you I am a slow poke. Life gets in the way a lot...stuff like work and laundry, pets, kids...

Cardstock: Real Red, white, striped DP by Bohemia (I think???), no name black pindot

SBS Group #23

I have joined the Sisterhood of the Blogging Stampers. I believe this group originated on SCS. It groups stampers/bloggers together so they can meet and support each other in their "crafty" lives without getting so lost in this vast cyberspace!

Although my group is not full yet, (they allow 20 bloggers per group) I have added their blogs on the left bottom column. Welcome Sisters!

A little about me for introduction. In reading everyone's else's blogs, it appears I may be the grandma of the group LOL. Actually, all my blog buddies already know that I am a proud Grandma to baby Cole, who turns one this week. I can't wait to see him this weekend on my trip to Eugene.

I am the HR Manager at Oregon Cherry Growers, Inc. in the beautiful Columbia Gorge in Oregon, USA.
I have 3 grown children, Erin (Cole's mommy), Abby and Matthew. And I have one sweet doggy named Taibo.(a little half poodle half l-poo)

I enjoy stamping, sewing (just unearthed my machine after years of exile), house projects (I recently refinished the oak floors in my house---never again!) and I used to like gardening but this year I have a real aversion to pulling weeds, so my flower beds aren't very pretty. (but my flower pots look beee-u-tee-ful)

I bought my first stamp probably 20-25 years ago (I know, some of my sisters probably weren't born yet HA!) and only stamped Christmas tags. I starting scrapping about 12 years ago and quickly migrated to stamping instead. I love fun fold cards and nice colored images!

My dear friend Charla, is also my Stampin Up demo. I belong to a monthly group with her as well as a monthly scrapping cookbook club. I also have a webshot spot you are welcome to browse that has all cards I have made/rec'd over the years.

Well, I am off to watch the Olympics! Totally addicted to stamping while watching LOL!

Hug Please ---Verve AVS04

I have decided to jump into trying my hand at sketch challenges, starting with the Anni-VERVE-sary 12 Days of Sketches. You can see all 12 HERE. I am a slow stamper because it takes me so long to decide on a layout, so I am in 7th heaven with these sketches!!!! Since I just discovered these sketches, I won't have them all done anytime soon, but I want to try all twelve!

I found several images that I colored maybe last year or the year before that fit perfectly in the first two sketches that I have completed and I am working on AVS 11 right now.

I love this stamp..and another stamp falls into "has seen ink bin".

Stamp;: Hug Please by Uptown Stamps

Ink: black, image colored with Stampin Up markers

Cardstock: yoyo yellow, blue, GP white, misc DP from the deep pile :)

Misc: clear button, SU punch for paper under the button, brads, cuttlebug folder, dimensionals(on almost everything I make!), misc ribbon

Beary Full Of Truffles

I am still on my mission to use stamps that have not seen ink yet! I am making progress but have a long way to go!

I bought several gruffies from hmstamps a few months ago and this is the first one I have used! Anyone that loves chocolate can appreciate this card. Who wouldn't love to be resting and popping a "few" truffles?

I used this wonderful background stamp that has all sorts of chocolate sayings. I bought this before I got serious enough to track where my stamps came from. It came from the same company that I got the quilt stamps that I used in this card. Someday I will stumble on their business card! I have had it for years and now it is inked! If you recognize the company...I would love to give them credit. I bought this at the former Auntie Amy's Unmounted Convention in Portland, Oregon.

I put the candy and the wrappers up on dimensionals also.

Stamps: House Mouse Beary Full of Truffles (Pebble) VR1004, Unknown background stamps

Ink: Creamy Caramel(background) Black, image colored with prisma's

Cardstock: Choc chip, pink and creamy caramel

Misc: Misc ribbon from Michaels

House Mouse Heidi RAk

Look at this darn cute House Mouse card I received from Heidi! This sister is so creative. She used cherry paper in honor of the end of fresh harvest at Oregon Cherry Growers(my workplace). She also included some cherry designed pencils and recipe cards!

Doesn't this cute apron card go perfect with Chef Amanda? In the pocket of the card is a cute little tag that pulls out.

Heidi has kept me "stampingly" sane through this harvest and I so love her for it! Mucho Gracias Sister!

FCCC Pink Tutu!

Little Sweet Courtney in her Pink Tutu!

Leave me a comment and I will pick a random name to send this card too!

I made this for Libby's weekly "From Courtney's Closet Challenge (FCCC)" To see this challenge click HERE. Wowser, number 11 already...

I used another first time stamp...yeah me! I bought this cute stamp From Dick at HMStamps. The link to his site is in the right column of my blog.

When I saw sweet Courtney's cute outfit, I thought " OH BOY do I have the stamp for this challenge!"

I too used the oval punch to make a pattern to sponge a 'shadow' at the feet of this little mousie...works pretty slick! Just mask off the feet and sponge away. You can see the detail in the close up.

Stamps: Twinkle Toes HMGR1013 Amanda, sentiment from a retired SU set...I needed little tiny words for sure :)

Cardstock: pink, white and black, all SU

Ink: Black, image colored with prisma's

Misc: SU 3 flowers One of a Kind punch, 1/2 inch circle punch, SU oval punches, oval nesties, misc organdy polka dot ribbon, cuttlebug folders-white was swiss dots and the black was the music folder.

Little Courtney is under the weather this week and there may not be a challenge until next week, but you should join in if you have a few spare moments!

Another wonderful Heidi RAK! Gotta laugh!!!

A fun RAK to receive from my stamping soul sis Heidi. Doesn't this make you laugh? The slippers on this old broad umm I mean lady crack me up! The purse accessory card included had some hidden treats inside too...some lip gloss and cute clear stamps. Again, Heidi pays so much attention to detail...lots of little things to look at on this purse!

A little hard to tell with my "professional" photography, but this is a brown and pink card...cool textured cardstock at that. I don't know who makes the stamp, sorry...it might be a Rubbernecker or Art Impressions...but just a guess.

Thanks Sissy!
